Genre: Symphonic Power Metal Bit Rate: 320
As a fan of the genre myself, I did not particularly enjoy this release. The vocals (all by guests musicians) are well done, but the music as a whole failed to get me out of my seat really and lacks the "Power" if you know what I mean. Still, I'm sure if you like lots of female vocals in general, you may enjoy "Darkmind".

Artillery has been around since 1985, back when the genre of Thrash was at its full glory, but they aren't all that well known and "When Death Comes" has been ignored by many within the community including me. But I hope posting this here would at least help draw some attention to them which they well deserve and I would think those who like Thrash on the more melodic side would be interested in this album.

20 years after the release of the "Keeper Of The Keys", Helloween shows us that they still mean business. Though the cult like status of the Keeper series can never be reached (well, I hope not never), it's still an album which Helloween and Power Metal fans would like.

Genre: Heavy Metal Bit Rate: 320
Heavy Metal in it's classic but modern form. Lots of melodic riffs, solos, some ballads and nice bass lines. To top it up, we have a really good Heavy Metal voice in the name of Matthew Bizilia.

It's widely agreed that this is the darkest Helloween album to date with a tone of evil to it. Anyone who would have bothered with a bit of research would also know about the undercurrents within the band during the recording of this album, which then surfaced with Rowland Grapow and Uli Kusch being fired then forming their own band Masterplan.

I personally find it quite fascinating how an album released 11 years ago can still sound modern and refreshing. Songs like "Push" and "Falling Higher" will certainly pump in lots of energy into a Power Metal fan's mind.

The legacy of the Keeper Of the Seven Keys continues with this album as Part I & II were originally intended to be released together. A lot of songs here are among their most well-known throughout their discography, including my favourite track "I Want Out". If you consider yourself a fan of Power Metal and still have not heard of these two albums, think again.

Some say this album marked the beginning of Power Metal. Whether it is or not, it is definitely among the first few and a lankmark for the Metal genre as a whole.

For those that like Fairyland or Dark Moor would probably wonder where Willdric Lievin and Elisa C. Martin has gone. If you still don't know, the both of them formed their own band under the name of Hamka and they are by no means mere knock-offs of Fairyland and upon second listen, one can definitely find more and more differences between the two bands, in particular of the use of more exotic instrumentations. "Andromeda Unchained" saw former session musician Jacob Hansen as the band's new front man (also a renowned producer). As a result, the band sounds quite different from previous albums and dare I say, sounds more Power Metal like, though I also have to stress that they have not lost theire progressive side at all. Subsequent listens reveals the incredible depth of the album.

Genre: Technical Death Metal Bit Rate: 320
While Obscura's "Cosmogenesis" takes the majority of the Tech Death fans attention with some really cool bass lines and guests, Gorod's "Process Of A New Decline" excels in churning out catchy and melodic riffs yet still being brutal and technical.

Anubis Gate comes from Denmark and "Purification" is their debut. Playing Power Metal and mixing it with Prog, they are not afraid to slow down and they don't sound "happy" like the usual European Power Metal bands, but they are still accessible without being simple.

"Iron Will" is a prime example to show us that sometimes you don't need to be original to excel. Just delivery quality stuff and everyone would be headbanging :D

Girlschool is probably one of the first all-girl metal bands. Their lead guitarist and singer Kelly Johnson died of spinal cancer in 2007, but the band moved on and made probably one of their best albums in a long time. Tommi Iomi and Ronnie James Dio (Black Sabbath, Heaven And Hell) also make their appearances in this album.

Ki is the first of the four album saga by the acclaimed Devin Townsend (of Strapping Young Lad) under the name "Devin Townsend Project" and the first by Devin since quitting drugs and other addiction. However, if you are looking for something heavy or expect it to be more in line with Strapping Young Lad, then search other parts of Devin's discography.

Genre: Teutonic Thrash Metal Bit Rate: 320
With such uncompromising agressiveness, great riffs, "Hordes Of Chaos" is definitely the best Thrash album of the year so far and have a good chance of beating Slayer's release in September. If you like Thrash or even pretend to like Thrash and have not heard "Hordes Of Chaos" yet, then you are definitely missing out.
